Are You More Connected, or Less?
This is a screen shot from the blessed day my iPhone was activated. The Apple guy accidentally snapped it while trying to do something else, but I told him to keep it on there as a memento. Before about a month ago, Richard and I were still sporting the bottom of the line phone models that allow you to… call people (and text of course, if you want to deal with T9 which was always above me). Now we are truly connected. We can talk, text, surf, read books, play games, check my blog comments, change my Facebook status, tweet, and everything else the awesome commercial says you can do. Alleluia!
Then about the same time, John Piper uploads this video to YouTube and I am reminded to make sure that I am truly connected. Check it out and let me know what you think.
“One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time.” (John Piper)

Great post and great video…
I took my iphone (it was a gift) back to the store and returned it in January. The salesman spent about 30 min. trying to convince me that even our 8 year old needs a iphone. Just not ready to add that in yet to our ipad, ipod, , wii, laptop, computer collection….er um…distractions.
It gets overwhelming.
Love the quote by Piper at the bottom.
Wow! Yeah, I am sure he was shocked!
OK, so I just have to share this story that Richard told me last night. Apparently there was a guy who brought back his new iPad with a sticky note on it saying, “The wife said no.” Well, everyone at the store thought it was so funny that they kept it on the iPad as it went back to the warehouse (or wherever). Apparently the story got back to the higher ups at Apple and they sent the man a free iPad with a note saying, “Apple said yes.”
Jess, great post and reminder for those of us who can connect so easily via iPhones, etc… Though, I do enjoy the sticky note story. Oh, Apple!
Richard was like… man, I shoulda thought of that!
