The number one thing I can say is that people who tell you “teach your kid to potty in 3 days” are big fat liars. Unless your kid is like 4 or 5…otherwise…that can’t be done! I had people telling me that when Naomi was 20 months! They can begin to get the concept down in 3 days BUT it takes months of practice! Then there’s the whole teaching them to do it all by themselves- and that just takes them being old enough (and coordinated enough)! Just be patient! Give M&M’s as incentive! That worked so well with Naomi. With her I would give her a drink and then about 20 mins later sit her on the potty with some books or turn on cartoons (anything to keep her sitting) till she just went. I think she cried the first time! LOL!

By the way- this picture is totally hilarious!

Ah yes, I am trying not to look at is as a all or nothing kind of thing. I know it is a process and am pretty sure that for Elliot it will be anything but a quick one! Yesterday I had him on the potty, after having drunk a ton of water, listening to the sound of running water and with his hand in a cup of warm water… nothing. Ha ha! Thanks for the tips!
